VINEYARD CREDENTIALS
In recent years there has been a lot of talk about the Barolo wines of Ravera and their almost exponential rise in quality, often related to climate change, which would seem to favor the traditionally cooler and later ripening zones like this.
Of all the various MGAs of Barolo and Novello, Ravera 1s by far the largest and the most heterogeneous in terms of altitude and exposure. In an attempt to simplify, however, we could say that there are four different areas within its confines. The first, which runs from the boundary with Barolo to the Serra estate, is simply the extension of the upper part of Terlo, at least as far as altitude and exposure are concerned. The second, which stretches below the road from Barolo to Monforte d'Alba, is situated between the boundary with Rivassi and the Ravera estate and offers good positions for Nebbiolo in its initial part. The third extends from the Parusso estate to the Ravera estate and has its better parcels on the south-facing side, particularly near Bricco Pernice. The fourth area coincides with the ample and luminous amphitheater of the Pratorotondo estate and of Cascina Nuova.
