VINEYARD CREDENTIALS
Third in terms of extension behind Bussia and Bricco San Pietro, this MGA extends around the village of Perno and is divided, in virtually equal parts, between the Eastern and the Western slope of the township. The first of these has as its reference points Disa and Ceretta, even if the better exposed plots of Cascina Colombera are not to be overlooked. The second, instead, though it can boast a surface planted to vines of some substance, has in the Santo Stefano di Perno hill its only quality parcel.
Known in the local dialect as Srea and in Italian as Ceretta (or Cerretta), this zone is characte- rized in its central part by a steep slope which turns, for the most part, towards cast-southeast, and which merges, on one side, in a concave indentation with a cooler micro-climate and, on the other side, with a small hump which borders on Disa and whose exposure is more casterly. The style of the cru, which can only be based on the one wine currently in production, is somewhat fresh and crisp rather than fleshy.
